Message if you want say 15 psi gauge, at sea level your pressure ratio would be (15+14.7)/14.7 = 2.02 and in Denver it would be (15+12.09)/12.09 = 2.24

That would put you in a significantly different part of the compressor map. The lower efficiency generates more heat. We should all be familiar with the disadvantages of a hot charge.
